Description:	The integration process of Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, best known as ALBA, due to its acronym in Spanish, was born in the context of a Latin America that fights for its own independency, in a region full of developing countries and with a common history of colonialism, which unites countries under similar conditions. If the origin of the integration is taken into account as a consequence of the union of the Bolivarian ideals between Venezuelan and Cuban leaders, it can be understood that ALBA’s nature is mostly political, however it is also economic and social. Therefore, the following text covers when the integration was created, the context in which it was created and the ideals which inspired it, as well as the different scopes it holds, the different stages it has gone through and the current situation it affronts. El proceso de integración, Alianza Bolivariana de los Pueblos de Nuestra América, mejor conocido como ALBA, por sus iniciales, nace en el entorno de una América Latina que lucha por su propia independencia, en una región repleta de países en vías de desarrollo y con una historia de colonialismo que une a los países dentro de cierta similitud de condiciones. Si se toma en cuenta el origen de la integración como consecuencia de la unión de ideales bolivarianos entre los mandatarios de Venezuela y Cuba, se podrá entender la naturaleza principalmente política, pero también económica y social del ALBA. Así, el presente texto aborda desde la creación de la integración, el contexto en el que fue creada y los ideales que la inspiraron, hasta los diferentes ámbitos que abarca, las diferentes etapas por la que ha tenido que pasar y la situación actual que enfrenta.
