Description:	In this text, I present a reflection focused on the urgency of not losing sight of the symbolic/discursive re/creation and re/production of gender as a structuring power of the androcentric culture in institutions of higher education, in this case in Mexico. My approach is sustained by an analysis of what I call the rhetoric of disparagement; a process of symbolic erasure of the critical voices of women academics’ at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), Mexico (2008-2012). I argue that the im/possibility of questioning the normalization of gendered practices –tacit and explicit– within the institution is mis/informed by the (aloud and silent) articulation  between the rhetoric of disparagement and the rhetorical gender scaffolding, socio-historical symbolic figures in the UACJ. En este texto, presento una reflexión centrada en la urgencia de no perder de vista la re/creación y re/producción simbólico-discursiva del género como estructura de poder androcéntrico dentro de las Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES), en específico de México. Mi deliberación se sustenta en un análisis de la retórica del menosprecio; un proceso de borramiento simbólico hacia las voces críticas de las académicas en la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), entre los años 2009 y 2012. Argumento que la im/posibilidad de cuestionar la normalización de las prácticas generizadas –explícitas y tácitas– dentro de la institución, se des/informa por la articulación (en voz y silencio) de la retórica del menosprecio con el andamiaje retórico de género, figuras socio-históricas en la UACJ.
