Title:	Intent and destiny in the history of science Intencionalidad y destino en la historia de la ciencia

Description:	This article analyzes intentionality and destiny in science through a historical perspective. In this complex relationship, human interaction, the intentionality of the action, the chain of events, the processes of epistemic assembly and destiny are privileged. To this end, the case of “erythronium” is addressed, a chemical substance discovered in 1801 by the mineralogist Andrés Manuel del Río Fernández (1764–1849), whose verification and validation process by the international community would take thirty years to recognize it with the name of vanadium, and be integrated as element 23 to the Periodic Table. Andrés del Río attended the global debate that the Swedish chemist Nils Gabriel Sefström opened when he rediscovered again, in 1831, the metallic substance that he had baptized with the name of Eritronio. Este artículo analiza intencionalidad y destino en la ciencia a través de una perspectiva histórica. En esa relación compleja se privilegia la interacción humana, la intencionalidad de la acción, el encadenamiento de sucesos, los procesos de ensamblaje epistémico y el destino. Para ello se aborda el caso del “eritronio”, una sustancia química descubierta en 1801 por el mineralogista Andrés Manuel del Río Fernández (1764–1849), cuyo proceso de verificación y validación por la comunidad internacional tardaría treinta años para reconocerla con el nombre de vanadio, y quedar integrada como el elemento 23 a la Tabla Periódica. Andrés del Río asistió al debate global que abrió el químico sueco Nils Gabriel Sefström al redescubrir nuevamente, en 1831, la sustancia metálica que había bautizara con el nombre de Eritronio.
