| Description: | The facts of this case are related to the Yakye Axa indigenous community, made up of more than 300 people. At the end of the 19th century, large tracts of land in the Paraguayan Chaco were sold. At the same time and as a result of the acquisition of these lands by British businessmen, several missions of the Anglican church began to be installed in the area. Also, some ranches of the zone were raised. The Indians who inhabited these lands were employed in these ranches. Los hechos del presente caso se relacionan con la Comunidad indígena Yakye Axa, conformada por más de 300 personas. A finales del siglo XIX grandes extensiones de tierra del Chaco paraguayo fueron vendidas. En esa misma época y como consecuencia de la adquisición de estas tierras por parte de empresarios británicos, comenzaron a instalarse varias misiones de la iglesia angliciana en la zona. Asimismo, se levantaron algunas estancias ganaderas de la zona. Los indígenas que habitaban estas tierras fueron empleados en dichas estancias. |
