Description: A new species of cynipid gallwasp, Andricus tumefaciens n. sp. (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini), is described from Mexico. This species induces galls on twigs of Quercus chihuahuensis Trelease, white oaks (Quercus, section Quercus s.s.). Diagnosis, full description, biology and distribution data of Andricus tumefaciens n. sp. are given. Some morphological characters are discussed and illustrated, and compared to related species (A. durangensis Beutenmüller from Mexico and A. wheeleri Beutenmüller from USA).
