Debido a la canonización que hizo el Papa Juan Pablo II de 25 mártires cristeros, han urgido en esta zona, nuevos centros de devoción religiosa. En el caso de Santa Ana de Guadalupe se estima que recibe alrededor de un millón de visitantes anualmente. Es sorprendente el crecimiento logrado por este último santuario. Se ha convertido en un importante centro de turismo religioso; lo asombroso es que está ubicada a 20 kilómetros de San Juan de los Lagos, segundo centro religioso del país, lo que hace aún más interesante la manera en que han podido integrarse estos dos sitios.
Tourism in the Altos de Jalisco region is based mainly on religion and devotion to the Virgin of the Inmaculada Conception, known as "Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos". Due to the canonization by Pope John Paul II of 25 cristeros martyrs have urged in this area, new centers of religious devotion. In the case of Santa Ana de Guadalupe, it is estimated to receive about one million visitors annually. It's amazing the growth achieved by the latter sanctuary. It has become an important center of religious tourism. the amazing thing is that it is located 20 miles from San Juan de los Lagos, second religious center of the country, making it even more interesting is the way they have been able to integrate these two sites.
