dc.description.abstractEl capítulo uno menciona todos los aspectos sobre la importancia de la familia Cicadellidae en diversos aspectos ecológicos y taxonómicos, a su vez detalla la magnitud de la importancia de la subfamilia Deltocephalinae en el mundo y en México. Tales aspectos sobre los patrones de distribución y los ambientes asociados para las chicharritas de la tribu Athysanini son descritos. El capítulo dos demuestra la pérdida de biodiversidad que existe entre la comparación histórica y actual de las chicharritas que habitan el bosque tropical mexicano estacionalmente seco en donde encontramos que cerca de un 53% de la fauna ha sido desplazada a lo largo de 75 años y que las diversas actividades modernas humanas son las principales causantes de la fragmentación de los hábitats. El capitulo tres nos demuestra la importancia de los patrones de distribución de la tribu Athysanini sobre las regiones biogeográficas y las provincias mexicanas, además de la riqueza por estado mexicano, región y provincia. Simultáneamente en este capítulo presentamos las áreas mas ricas de especies, su preferencia de elevación, endemismo y grado de amenazada de acuerdo a los criterios internacionales de especies amenazadas. El capitulo cuatro conceptualiza la descripción de athysanine mexicanos y provee una primer calve dicotómica funcional para todos los géneros en el país y va acoplada de una lista comentada de todas las especies que residen en el país, aquí mismo se describe una nueva especie para México colectada del bosque seco de Oaxaca. El capítulo cinco muestra un analisis filogenético preliminar de Athysanini del Nuevo Mundo y su relación con los géneros mexicanos. Capitulo seis cubre las principales conclusiones de esta investigación.
