Descripción:	The Other Side is a common form to refer to the United States from the Mexican perspective because of the geographical closeness between both countries. At the same time, it is a reference to a there that implies a here. In addition, the nominalization offers us a sense of geographical, linguistic, cultural and identitarian otherness, among other meanings. In her novel Across a hundred mountains, Reyna Grande, born in Mexico and having illegally migrated to the U.S. in 1985, introduces us to her main character, Juana García, who crosses all sorts of mountains and borders to reach The Other Side. Her goal in doing this is to fnd her father who has migrated to that country and bring him back to her mother in Guerrero, no matter what. Across a hundred mountains is considered part of literature without residence as a consequence it presents elements such as frictionality, strategic transgression, intertextual signals of movements as well as transculturation that will guide our analysis. In addition, through the analysis, it will be shown whether this chicana novel is empowered or not. El Otro Lado es una forma común de referirse a Estados Unidos desde la perspectiva del mexicano por la cercanía geográfca entre ambos países. A la vez, se trata de un indicador de un allá que tiene implícito un aquí. Así mismo, la nominalización nos ofrece un sentido de distancia, así como de otredad geográfca, lingüística, cultural, identitaria, entre otros. En Across a hundred mountains, Reyna Grande, autora nacida en México que migró ilegalmente al país vecino del norte en 1985, nos presenta a su personaje principal, Juana García, quien cruza todo tipo de montañas o fronteras para llegar al Otro Lado con un único objetivo: llevar a su padre, que había migrado a Estados Unidos, de regreso a Guerrero para entregarlo a su madre sin importar cómo. Cabe mencionar que la novela en cuestión se considera como literatura sin residencia fja y, como tal, presenta friccionalidad, transgresión estratégica, señales intertextuales de movimientos, así como transculturación: conceptos que guían el enfoque del análisis de esta obra. A la vez, mediante el análisis, se determinará si la novela es parte de la literatura de chicanas empoderadas o no.
