Resumen: Food spoilage not only results in huge economic loss for the food industry, but food safety is a major priority in today' s globalizing market with worldwide transportation and consumption of raw, fresh and minimally processed foods[l]. The food industry is not the only industry concerned with biofilm formation. In the medical industry, biofilm-associated bacteria on implants or catheters are of great concern beca use they can cause very serious infections[2]. Since there is an economic loss, which is usually the main focus in any industry, as well as health problems, there needs to be a way to remedy this problem. One way to minimize, and hopefully eliminate, this problem is to modify the surface in which these products are sealed and make it antibacterial.
